Cargotec Master Data Value Calculation
DAIN supported the company by identifying the most impactful master data relevant pain points, calculating their financial impact and suggesting a roadmap for mitigating the issues/leveraging value from data.
Problem
The company didn’t have a consensus on importance and value of proper data governance and the importance of data and needed support in creating a high level storyline to get the board’s and wider organisation’s buy in on data related initiatives.
Approach
- Interviews with multiple stakeholders to collect a long list of pain points
- Workshops within a small stakeholder group to prioritise and detail them
- Selection of 6 pain points/opportunities for which business cases are calculated
- Proposal for operational and strategic actions to be implemented (high level roadmap definition)
Results
- 6 business cases
- Proposal for operational and strategic actions to be implemented (high level roadmap definition)
The business case calculations showcase the impact of data on business results and the suggested activities besides operational improvements create a tighter connection between business and data departments.
